Venue Hire

VENUE HIRE RATES

All rates include GST.

Base Rate includes up to 4 hours, including bump-in and out time.

WEEKDAY - 8AM TO 5PM

THE YARD - $700 ($100/hr additional hours)

THE GALLERY - N/A (available at special request)

NIGHT AND WEEKENDS - 6PM TO 12AM (WEEKDAY) OR 8AM TO 12AM (WEEKEND)

THE YARD - $820 ($130/hr additional hours)

THE GALLERY - N/A (available at special request)

Inclusions

  • Supervising Staff Member
  • Toilets; female, male & disabled.
  • Kitchenette (sink, bar fridge, microwave only)
  • Additional area for catering preparation and plating
  • Pre and post event general cleaning
  • House lights
  • Power

ADDITIONAL FEES

Prices are based on events with less than 80 guests. Events with more than 80 guests will require an additional supervising staff member at $35 per hour per, with a minimum call time of 3hrs. Supervising staff members are required to protect the venues heritage and artworks during private events. Supervising Staff must be present on site during all visits by hirers and guests including additional bump-in/out hours.

BOOKING REQUIREMENTS

In order to secure your booking we require:

  1. 50% deposit paid by direct deposit to Newcastle Historic Reserve Trust.
  2. Signed Venue Hire Lease Agreement

CANCELLATION POLICY

Notification of cancellations must be provided in writing to info@thelockup.org.au

0 - 30 days: Forfeiture of full venue hire deposit.

31 – 90 days: The Lock-Up will refund 50% of the venue hire deposit.

91days onwards: Full venue hire deposit will be refunded.

Sympathetic conversion of the exercise yard has resulted in a space that is not weather proof. Venue hire clients take this risk in hiring the site. On the occasion that an event needs to be cancelled due to severe weather, The Lock-Up will retain the full deposit. The event may be rescheduled at a reduced price as negotiated with the Director of The Lock Up.

BOND

The Lock-Up reserves the right to charge up to a $1000 bond. The bond is fully refundable subject to a site inspection by the Director on completion of your event.

HERITAGE CONSIDERATION

The Lock-Up is a significant heritage building protected under NSW Heritage. As such no items can be affixed to walls including adhesive tape or tack, nails or hooks etc. However approved decorative items can be hung from the ceiling bars.

EVENT RESTRICTIONS

The Yard cannot be hired for 18th and 21st birthday celebrations.

All flames (candles etc) must be covered.

Smoking is strictly not permitted within The Lock-Up.

Amplified sound (including music and microphones) must be turned down to an acceptable level from 11pm.

The venue must be vacated by 12am (midnight).

Any other external caterers are permitted but it is the responsibility of the Hirer to brief external suppliers on the limitations of the venue with a site visit prior to booking. Deep-frying and gas flames are not permitted inside the building.

If alcohol is to be served a licensed caterer must be engaged by the venue hire client.

DELIVERIES

The Lock-Up can only accept deliveries on the Hirer’s behalf with prior consent by The Lock-Up staff.

PARKING

There is no on-site parking at The Lock-Up. Off-street parking (timed and paid between 9am and 5pm) is available in surrounding streets.
