Join us at The Lock-Up for a panel discussion delving into the themes present in the exhibition INSIDE ELANDS. Facilitated by journalist Scott Wales, curator Dr Una Rey and artists Dr Alison Bennett, Rilka Oakley and Julie Slavin will speak to the collaborations involved in creating work for the exhibition and their intimate connection to place through childhood experiences growing up in Elands. Artist Julie Slavin will add to the Elands discussion from an intergenerational perspective.

BIOGRAPHIES

SCOTT WALES
Scott Wales is a presenter and producer at NewsRadio. Scott has also worked at Radio National, in TV Arts and as a reporter for the News Channel. He has a long history with the Elands community.

UNA REY
Dr Una Rey is an artist, curator, arts writer and lecturer in art history and creative arts at The University of Newcastle.

ALISON BENNETT
Dr Alison Bennett is an interdisciplinary artist working in expanded photography and digital media. She manages the Masters of in Photography at RMIT University in Melbourne.

RILKA OAKLEY
Rilka Oakley is an artist and is the inaugural curator at the City Art Gallery, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba.

JULIE SLAVIN
Julie Slavin moved to Elands in the mid-1970s. She is a photographer, painter and bush-builder now based in Old Bar.
